Yolanda Shiphrah Kadima Foundation

Take back your wellness.

We exist so that no Black mother is lost to a crisis that was never inevitable.

Welcome, family.

Wherever you are in your journey, whether you are a young woman learning to love your moon cycle, a mama preparing to birth, a father who wants to protect his family, or a family carrying loss, you belong here. We are glad you came.

3 to 4 times

Why we are here.

Black women in the United States are three to four times more likely than other women to die from complications of pregnancy, birthing, or the weeks after. Black women were not failed by their bodies. They were failed by a system that never trusted those bodies. We are here to make it safe to carry, to birth, and to live.

For your family, for your womb, for yourself, your babies: take back your wellness, be powerful, be strong, follow your intuition, trust the Creator, and keep moving forward.

Yolanda “Shiphrah” Kadima was a doula, lactation consultant, herbalist, and traditional midwife who helped birth more than sixty babies. In July 2020, four days after birthing her second set of twins, her sixth and seventh children, she passed at 35. Her husband Armand founded this foundation so her work would not end with her.
